Simchat Torah

This festival falls on the ninth and final day of Succot, and marks the completion of the yearly cycle of Torah readings (Parshiot). On the evening before the holiday we read the final section of the Torah, the very end of Deuteronomy, and then the next morning we go back to the beginning of Genesis to start again. The scrolls are carried around the sanctuary in procession, with singing and banners waving.
