Dr. Hanne Trautner-Kromann is Professor Emerita of Jewish Studies at Lund University, Sweden. Born in Denmark, she earned her doctorate at Copenhagen University. She has authored numerous books and articles about Jews and Judaism. She is an expert on the history of Scandinavian Jews.
King Christian the Fourth invited the first Jews into Denmark in 1622. In the following centuries more and more Jews immigrated and flourished. Successive waves of immigration in the 20th Century strengthened the Copenhagen Jewish community, and it is now an inviting cultural and educational force, attracting the interest of many non-Jews.
