Succot

Five days after the solemnity of Yom Kippur begins what is probably the most joyous of holidays – Succot. Its roots as a harvest festival are shown in the construction of a sukkah, a temporary shelter reminiscent of what was used by people as they lived in the fields to complete the harvest. We build a sukkah adjacent to the synagogue and decorate it with fruits and grains, as we give thanks for the abundance we have received.
